Stage of Jordi Camprodon to UQAT

During this summer Jordi Camprodon is doing a stage into the Forest Reseearch Institute of the Université du Québec en Abitibi-Témiscamingue (UQAT), with the  framework of Newforest, a project of research staff exchanges between Québec and Catalonia.

The main topic to work with Louis Imbeau, UQAT researcher’s and codirector of the Forest Research Institute, to understand the mechanisms that generate and maintain biodiversity in forest ecosystems, using forests bats as a bioindicators in different forest structures from old-growth to intense managed forest.

We hypotize that habitat selection and animal-plant interactions in bats are influenced by the forest management, in consequence, we can use it’s as a good bioindicator, complimentary compared to other typical groups, like birds.

A second goal is to integrate the resulting knowledge on bats in forest management guidelines in future changing conditions inflkuenced by the global changue.
